A Message to the Alexander County Voters:

As your Sheriff, I promise to protect and serve all citizens of Alexander County. My purpose has always been serving others through law enforcement. We need to invest, train, and grow the next generation of law enforcement to improve the safety in our schools and community.

To the officers that I work with, I believe you all know me well enough to know that I will put you before myself. I will not ask you to do anything that I’m not willing to do myself, I will work right alongside of you, day in and day out. My goal is to help every officer grow in their career, to be the best that they can be. I will foster a work environment that every employee will feel valued and respected for the work that they do. Promotions will be given to those that earn the promotion, politics will have nothing to do with it, it will be earned. Let’s take our office to the next level together. I am asking for your trust, support and vote!

As your sheriff, I pledge to:

·Serve you, protect you, and listen to you.

·Maintain justice while honoring the rule of law.

·Uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and the State of North Carolina.

·Work to constantly improve the professional standards of the Sheriff’s Office.

·Always be accessible to you and committed to answering your questions.

·Committed to the utmost professionalism by using the latest technological advances, providing good coaching and mentoring, fair employment and promotion practices and engaging community partnerships to sustain a safe quality of life for Alexander County.

As your sheriff, I will:

  • Engage the community. We will seek community involvement and partnerships, including feedback and conversations with our citizens.

  • Renew county relationships. By operating openly and transparently, we will build trust with the community, including relationships with the County Government, county leaders and the citizens.

  • Combat the drug problem. We will tackle the drug problem in our community head on with a proactive approach, including accountability and transparency to our citizens. We will enhance our current D.A.R.E. Program in our schools and establish an educational program for parents/legal guardians.

  • Establish a career development plan for our officers. We will seek opportunities for training, often free, establish a bonus/incentive program, to benefit both the officers and our citizens, at no additional cost to tax payers.

  • Restructure current staffing. We will dedicate additional officers to serve on the road patrol, decreasing response time to the citizens and reducing crime for businesses and homeowners.
